- Lavender: Its sedative properties help people fall asleep faster and experience better quality, deeper sleep, making it a popular natural remedy for insomnia.
- Cedarwood: sleep aid and relaxation, cedrol has a sedative effect that can help alleviate insomnia and promote deeper, more restful sleep. It works by increasing activity in the parasympathetic nervous system (the "rest and digest" system) and slowing heart rate and breathing.
Eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon, and frankincense essential oils are used for respiratory benefits due to their decongestant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and immune-boosting properties that help clear airways, soothe irritation, and fight infections.
- Eucalyptus Contains a key compound called eucalyptol (1,8-cineole), which acts as an expectorant, helping to break up mucus and phlegm, making it easier to cough up and clear airways. It also has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties that can reduce swelling in the nasal passages and help fight off respiratory infections like bronchitis, asthma, and the common cold.
- Peppermint The primary component is menthol, which creates a cooling sensation when inhaled that stimulates cold receptors in the nose, providing the perception of clearer airflow and easier breathing. It can act as a decongestant and also has antispasmodic properties that may help calm coughing.
- Lemon Known for its strong antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory qualities, lemon oil is often used to support the immune system and help relieve symptoms of colds and flu. It helps to purify the air, clear nasal passages, and can reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract, aiding in general respiratory health.
- Frankincense Valued for its anti-inflammatory properties, frankincense oil can help soothe the respiratory system and reduce irritation and inflammation in the airways. Inhaling it can slow and deepen breathing, which helps with conditions like chronic bronchitis and asthma symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath.
